LEARNING, IN CONTEXT

How we remember

Remembering is an active process. Connect a new idea to what you already know, then practise bringing it back.

# learning# memory

Make it meaningful.

An idea becomes easier to remember when it has somewhere to belong. Link it to what you know. Then give yourself a reason to recall it.

Understanding grows in the connections.

“Retrieval practice means recalling information from memory.”

01 From source to understanding

Keep the thread.
Learn what matters.

For students preparing for exams, and people who already think in linked notes. Less moving between tools. More time with the material.

01

Start with your own material

Open your Markdown folder, including an existing Obsidian vault. Read notes, PDFs and EPUBs beside the ideas you are working on.

02

Follow the source

Ask for cards, quizzes or a summary. Source-fidelity checks keep generated claims tied to their source; unmeasured AI stays in a Trial workspace.

03

Come back when it counts

Review spaced-repetition cards with FSRS scheduling, take quizzes and export cards to Anki. Keep learning beside your notes.

02 / Honest about where we are

AI should earn
your trust.

The AI layer works today. Most tasks start as Trial until you measure a model on your own Mac.

A model becomes Calibrated for a task only after it passes a measurement. Trial results do not write to your notes. Built-in calibration examples for new installs are still on the roadmap. We will not present that work as finished.

The proposed founder licence is a one-time purchase, with every 1.x update included. Registration and sales have not opened yet.

The proposed founder offer ends when Early Access ends or 500 founder licences have been issued, whichever comes first. The release announcement will state the final terms.

05 / Before you join

A clear picture.
No fine-print surprises.

Current baseline: version 1.0.2. The planned paid Early Access release must pass additional release checks before it is offered for sale.

Mac, Apple Silicon

macOS 26.2 or later. 8 GB of memory for the app; 16 GB or more recommended for local AI. No Windows or Intel Mac version today.

Trial is the starting point

Summaries, cards and quizzes do not ship with calibration examples yet. They remain Trial until a model is measured on examples of your own.

Some AI tasks stay unavailable

Speech to text, video matching and inline code completion do not yet have a quality threshold. They cannot be Calibrated; audio transcription stays unavailable.

Long sessions need care

The web view can grow by about 180 MB per hour of continuous tab switching. Restarting frees it sooner. Only the 16 GB memory class has been measured in depth.

Distribution is still being prepared

The 1.0.2 baseline is not Apple-notarized. A Developer ID signature and notarization are required before the planned paid release. This page does not offer that build for download.

English interface

Your notes can be in any language. Hungarian and English content are recognized automatically; AI without a measurement for the content language is Trial.

What comes next.

v1.0.2Current baseline

Safer notes. Smoother study sessions.

Version 1.0.2 fixes focus and typing behind dialogs, improves PDF and EPUB search progress, makes quiz notes usable where you open them, improves source-change warnings and strengthens recovery and undo.

Built-in calibration examples for new installs, clearer measured AI onboarding, and the remaining Early Access release checks. These are planned work, not a promised release date.

07 / A few good questions

Before you settle in.

Is there a subscription?

The proposed founder licence is a one-time purchase, including all 1.x updates. Version 2.0 would be a separate purchase with a 50% founder discount.

Does Manifold send my notes anywhere?

The app runs locally and requires no account. Network is used for downloads you start, such as models or media. An optional outside-assistant workflow lets you deliberately copy selected content to another service; that service has its own privacy terms.

Can I keep using Obsidian and Anki?

Yes. Manifold uses the same folder of Markdown notes as Obsidian, and its flashcards can be exported to Anki. It does not require a migration into a proprietary note format.

What if it is not for me?

The launch plan includes a 14-day full-feature trial and a 30-day refund on purchases. Final sales and refund terms will be published before any payment is accepted.

How can I hear about the launch?

Registration is not open yet. This page will be updated when the signup form becomes available. There is currently no payment or email collection.
